GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION - 03/07/2023

GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION was celebrated on 03/07/2023 along with 
Dr. Sanjaykumar M D {Professor, Dept. Of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa} in the department. 

Guru Purnima (Poornima) is an religious festival dedicated to offering respect to all the spiritual and academic gurus. It is celebrated as a festival in India, Nepal and Bhutan by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists.  This festival is traditionally observed to honour one's chosen spiritual teachers or leaders. It is observed on the Full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashada (June–July) according to the Hindu calendar. The festival was revived by Mahatma gandhi to pay tribute to his spiritual guru, Shrimad Rajchandra. It is also known as Vyasa Purnima, for it marks the birthday of Veda Vyasa. The sage who authored the Mahabharatha and compiled the Vedas.

Highlights of the case:
Benign recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis (BRIC) and Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis (PFIC) are rare conditions of defective bile salt transport, each with an estimated prevalence of 1/50,000-100,000. People with this condition experience episodes of cholestasis, during which the liver cells have a reduced ability to release bile. Episodes generally begin in the late teens or early twenties and may be accompanied by jaundice, severe itchiness, a vague feeling of discomfort (malaise), irritability, nausea, vomiting, and a lack of appetite. One such case of a 32 year old male patient had approached GAMH, Mysuru with above said complaints. BRIC self limiting disease and contemporary science manages it with symptomatic treatment. Chikitsa Siddanta is framed focusing on doshagati to bring shakhashrita doshas to the kosta by pitta vardhana, Kaphahara and vatanulomana followed by shodhana(Virechana) for nirharana of utklista doshas.

Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine is the primary medical specialty responsible for the prevention, medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation management of persons of all ages with disabling health conditions and their co-morbidities, specifically addressing their impairments and activity limitations in order to facilitate their physical and cognitive functioning, participation and modifying personal and environmental factors DAIVAVYAPASHRAYA CHIKITSA & SATWAVAJAYA CHIKITSA, KAPAATASHAYANA explained in Bhagna chikitsa,Upashaya explained in every vyadhi, Naturopathy treatment modalities like Hydrotherapy, Heliotherapy, mud therapy etc.,General yoga & Therapeutic Yoga (Asanas, Pranayama, etc.),Dinacharya and Rutucharya concepts explained in ayurveda samhithas can be a part of physical medicine & rehabilitation. Rehabilitation of patients rests on accurate diagnosis, proper identification of roles, cooperation among the different disciplines and a potent but practical goal setting approach. While the need for rehabilitation is growing, modernization of PM and R education in India is needed. Awareness among general population & fellow physicians is necessary.
