Highlights of the Seminar:

Food is said to be Mahabheahaj. Human beings are falling prey to various lifestyle disorders,in which defects in food play major role in sandhi vikaras like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis,gouty arthritis. The food articles which have madhura.amla,lavana rasa, snigdha,ushna,guru Guna and which have deepana,pachana,brumhana,santarpana guna should be given in sandhivata.eg;godhuma,Masha,raktashali,ghrita,kukkuta mamasa etc. Amavata is mainly due to agnimandhya hence the foods which has the properties like deepana,pachana,laghu,katu tikta rasa is useful in vatakapha prashamana and amapachana.eg;yava,raktashali,shigru,ardraka,rasona etc. Gout is most common type of inflammatory arthritis, develop due to high level of uric acid from the breakdown of purine,hence person with gout should avoid purine and should take plant based food eg; fruits, vegetables,legumes,nuts etc. Hence, for the better results of the medicine administered, pathya must be followed. (cha.chi.30/332) Discussion about the different food articles which are mentioned in classics and which are practically available in today's era and different food preparations which can be advised to patients and developing the diet chart for different diseases were discussed
