TREATMENT PROTOCOL OF MUTRAVAHA AND PURISHAVAHA SROTO VIKARA

The presentation provides a detailed Ayurvedic approach to the diagnosis and treatment of Mutravaha and Purishavaha Srotovikaras, which are disorders of the urinary and fecal systems. It emphasizes the role of Apana Vata and identifies common causes and symptoms of Srotodushti (channel vitiation). Treatment involves Shodhana (cleansing) therapies like Basti (medicated enema)—including Niruha, Anuvasana, and Uttara Basti—which are central for Vata-related issues like Mutrakruchra and Mutraghata. Snehana (oleation), Swedana (sudation), Virechana (purgation), and Vamana (emesis) are used depending on the Dosha predominance. Herbal medicines like Gokshura, Punarnava, Pashanabheda, Varuna, and Dashamoola are employed for their Mutrala, Ashmaribhedaka, and anti-inflammatory properties. Conditions such as Ashmari, Atisara, Pravahika, Purishaja Krimi, and Arshas are managed using a combination of Samshodhana, Samshamana (palliative), dietary regulation (Pathya-Apathya), and Rasayana therapies to restore function, reduce recurrence, and prevent complications.
