Highlights of Inter-Departmental Seminar:
Rising concerns regarding health have led to evolution of microbiome studies. Gut micro biome and health is giving novel leads for prevention and a therapeutic target to manage many diseased conditions like IBS, Obesity, Diabetes mellitus, Psychiatric disorder, Cancer, etc. Seminar started with introduction and definition of microbiome and their types, origin and significance of eubiosis. Seminar further emphasized role of dysbiosis of microbiome on disease and explained the same with ample examples and research articles. In Ayurveda same was correlated to concept of Agni and its functions on health and disease. Maintenance and Management through pro and prebiotics, FMT alongside Ayurvedic shodhana shamans, Ahara vihara was told. Seminar also gave new facts and inputs regarding human gut microbiome. futuristic scopes were highlighted. Overall, the topic was innovative and managed to give ample inputs. Discussion was done on other possible correlations of gut microbiome in Ayurveda. Inputs on effective maintenance of eubiosis of microbiome through Ayurvedic principles were given from staff.Session ended with question-and-answer session. Questions on role of vaginal microbiome, Shodhana and gut microbiome changes, Role of Takrabasti in IBS & Gut microbiome, Gut microbiome and hunger etc. were answered by the presenter. Overall, the seminar was informative.
