Title: MICROBIOME IN HEALTH AND DISEASE

Highlights of Inter-Departmental Seminar:
Rising concerns regarding health have led to evolution of microbiome studies. Gut micro biome and health is giving novel leads for prevention and a therapeutic target to manage many diseased conditions like IBS, Obesity, Diabetes mellitus, Psychiatric disorder, Cancer, etc. Seminar started with introduction and definition of microbiome and their types, origin and significance of eubiosis. Seminar further emphasized role of dysbiosis of microbiome on disease and explained the same with ample examples and research articles. In Ayurveda same was correlated to concept of Agni and its functions on health and disease. Maintenance and Management through pro and prebiotics, FMT alongside Ayurvedic shodhana shamans, Ahara vihara was told. Seminar also gave new facts and inputs regarding human gut microbiome. futuristic scopes were highlighted. Overall, the topic was innovative and managed to give ample inputs. Discussion was done on other possible correlations of gut microbiome in Ayurveda. Inputs on effective maintenance of eubiosis of microbiome through Ayurvedic principles were given from staff.Session ended with question-and-answer session. Questions on role of vaginal microbiome, Shodhana and gut microbiome changes, Role of Takrabasti in IBS & Gut microbiome, Gut microbiome and hunger etc. were answered by the presenter. Overall, the seminar was informative.

Highlights of the seminar:
The need and scope of Ayurveda in Immune system and its disorders were discussed. The rising challenges due to increased environmental, industrial, social, pharmaceutical and dietary stress factors have given rise to increasing number of allergic and immunological disorders. The recent covid-19 pandemic coupled with non-availability of a drug of choice has resulted in almost complete dependence on development of safe and efficacious medicines that protect individuals against existing and potential virus variants that attack the immune system.
CLINICAL CASE DISCUSSION ON ADHESIVE CAPSULITIS WITH DIABETIC NEUROPATHY

Highlights of the Case:
Case discussion was done on the 60 years old male patient with history of diabetes since 1 year now presenting with c/o pain and swelling in right thumb and index finger since 1 year, burning sensation in right lower limb since 1year and pain and stiffness in the left shoulder joint since 9 months. He underwent cervical decompressive laminectomy on 19/10/2022. Post surgery MRI report showed cervical spondylosis, C2 to C7 disc dessication. In Ayurveda, diagnosis was done as prameha upadrava with apabhahuka. Treatment plan was proposed accordingly. Abhyanga to left shoulder with masha -saindhava taila followed by mashapinda sweda greevabasti, and nasya with Neurocare drops and advised oral medication like amrutadhi guggulu, chandraprabha vati, triphala churna, nishamalaki churna. Discussion was done on probable ayurvedic diagnosis and intervention.

Highlights of the seminar:
The need and scope of Ayurveda in Vrukka roga and its pathya & apathya were discussed. Correlation of Pathya and apathya mentioned in classics with respect to contemporary science was explained with its mode of action on the specific diseases such as Mutrakrichra, Mutraghata, Ashmari. Restriction of food articles in kidney disorders with its constitution of macro and micronutrients was presented. With increasing demand for organic lifestyle, it is a need of the hour for development of specialized branches like Ayurvedic Nutrition and dietetics.
